New Provincial School Finder Website

In April, the Ministry of Education launched new School Information
Finder
website
which provides selected information about each school in Ontario. Schools can be compared based on the selected data.

People for Education responded by writting an open letter to the Premier and the Minister of Education regarding the website. We invited any interested parties to read the letter add their name as a signatory. Nearly 1,500 people did.

The Minister of Education has since removed the "shopping bag" feature from the government school finder website. But concerns remain.

On June 1st, People for Education signed a letter, along with every provincial parent group, teachers association, prinicipals council, school board association etc. asking for the site to be removed while further discussions take place to find a solution.

On October 16th, members of the four provincial parent groups wrote another letter to the Minister of Education about the ongoing debate over the School Information Finder.

  • The Ontario Federation of Home and School Associations
  • Parents partenaires en éducation
  • The Ontario Association of Parents in Catholic Education
  • People for Education

These parent groups, along with every other member of the Partnership Table, have all raised grave concerns about the Ministry of Education's new School Information Finder, and are unanimous in their opposition to the site.
