Because of an emphasis on math, reading and writing targets, many educators are noting a decline in programming for arts subjects. There is no provincial education policy that outlines the place for arts programs or arts specialists in schools. Yet these courses – music, drama, visual arts, and dance – are the ones that keep many students engaged, and creativity is considered one of the most important qualities to possess in this rapidly-changing world.
